FAQ

frequently asked questions

is everything vegan?

yes. in fact, we are passionate about veganism; the transition away from animal products can be difficult, we hope our treats make it easier.

do you have any sugar free treats?

we do not.

is your kitchen peanut/soy/wheat/allergen free?

we work in the kitchen with these ingredients so even if the recipe itself does not contain one of these ingredients, we cannot guarantee that there are no traces of it in the product.

why is the icing on your cakes and cupcakes so hard?

our icing is coconut oil based so it stiffens up when it’s cold (ie when it has been in the fridge). for best texture, remove the cake or the cupcake from the fridge 1-2 hours before serving and enjoy at room temperature!

do you make custom cakes?

at the moment, we only make the cakes available on our order form, as shown on the photos. we are still open to hear about any flavour/style ideas you may have.

do you make wedding cakes?

for wedding cakes, you may choose one of our cake flavours, and they will be stacked into a tiered cake. we unfortunately cannot do any other custom work on it.

do you deliver outside of montreal?

we can deliver anywhere in the grand montreal area but it may be more costly. you can check the exact delivery rate using our order form by entering your postal code.

how do i open a wholesale account so i can sell your products at my shop?

email us at distribution@sophiesucree.com and someone will get back to you about the appropriate procedures for wholesale orders.

is your sugar processed through bone char?

we use redpath sugar and their website informs customers that they do not use animal products or by-products in their refining process.

how do you make a vegan croissant without butter?

we make our own butter using only plant ingredients such as coconut oil and sunflower oil. coconut oil has the amazing property of being solid when under 25 degrees celsius so it can behave like butter. i can’t believe it’s not butter!

how do you mimic cheesy flavours in vegan recipes?

we make magic! just kidding, nutritional yeast and apple cider vinegar make wonders when combined.
